Tamasha was formed through acquisition of the archive of Polygram Records East Africa when it divested from the region in the early 1990s — at the time the premier recording and publishing label in East Africa, holding a vast archive of over 10,000 tracks from the region's most loved artists of the 1950s–1980s.
Since then the archive has been digitized and made available across CD, streaming, digital download and mobile — spanning Zilizopendwa, Rhumba and Gospel among other genres. The searchable index below lists … recordings held in the archive. 11,411 of them are catalogued down to the track title; the rest are known only by their catalogue number, and are listed as untitled recordings.
