Who We Are
Tamasha Corporation Limited is a Kenyan registered company and one of the largest collector and distributor of music in East Africa and Worldwide electronically. We are leading in provision of the best evergreen high quality music popularly known as Zilizopendwa, Rhumba, and Gospel amongst other genres. We currently have a huge number of tracks in our stores and continually receiving new tracks. We present our music in digitized formats to several stores locally and internationally.
History
Historically, Tamasha was formed through acquisition of the archive of Polygram Records East Africa when they divested from the region in the early 1990’s.
Polygram EA was until that time the premier recording and publishing label in East Africa, which held a vast archive in excess of 10,000 tracks from some of the region’s most loved artists from the 1950s – 1980s. Artists in the archive include great artists such as Franco et le T. P. OK Jazz, Les Mangelepa, Daudi Kabaka, Safari Sounds Band and many others.
Since taking over, the archive TCL has maintained pace with industry advances by digitizing the archive and initially distributing it in CD format; and more recently through making it available for streaming, for digital downloads and for mobile consumption.
TCL has availed a limited inventory for ringtones and ring-back tones in the Kenyan market through third party Content Service Providers (CSP). In view of the positive uptake in this channel, we now see an opportunity to more aggressively position itself in the ringtone and ring-back tone market by formally registering as a CSP and opening up most or all of its vast archive.
